In Anambra: Rev. Father Chike Arrested Over Child Trafficking


Information gathered has revealed an Anambra state, Rev. Father Chike who was arrested by the men of Nigerian police indulging in kidnapping of Abdullahi Azeez in Osogbo, Osun state

The baby had been stolen by a suspect’s named 28-year-old Joy Esu, who approached the infant’s mom claiming that she wished to learn to tailor.

Two days after she was admitted to learn tailoring, Esu absconded with all the infant whose mother abandoned in her care when visiting the market to purchase some things.

Esu who informed newsmen that she does not know whether her boyfriend had been using charms to control her, allegedly gave the infant for her boyfriend, Sidney Onwuka, who then sold him to a Maxwell Agu who promised to be operating a government enrolled orphanage in Orlu, Imo State.

She said, “He (Sidney) always sent me to do anything and I would go without hesitation. I even sold my daughter to him, but he didn’t give me ordinary N5″ she said.

The perpetrator, Sidney Onwuka, who confessed to getting 6 stolen infants from his girlfriend Esu, stated he offered six infants and his own child to the buyer who paid him N200,000.

The Rev. Father was dragged into the incident, after one Elizabeth, a member of his parish contacted him for help in adopting a male child, adding that she had six grown-up daughters but wanted to have a male child, because of the negative effect of not having a male child in Igbo culture.

The cleric said he contacted the operator of the orphanage for the baby’s adoption.

He later brought the baby to our parish together with Joy (Esu). I called Elizabeth and she said she liked the baby boy. The woman handed N750,000 to me and and I gave it to Maxwell” he said.
